Office— 2:00 PM Minutes of the Meeting of Thursday, April 25, 2013 Committee Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: Ruth Elias, Chairman Elinor Glen r, Clerk Gail Wilson, Human Services [Director Janice I alf rd, Vice Chairman Gus Frederick Veronica Warden John Cahalane Cathy Mohler-Faria Lynne Waterman Mary Scanlan CALL TO ODDER Chairman Fruth Elias called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM. REVIEW OF MINUTES — 112411 The minutes were amended to include Gail Wilson's name ars being present at the meeting. It was moved and seconded that the minutes of the meeting of 1/24/13 be approved ars amended. The motion was unanimously passed. NEW BUSINESS 1 Food Drives: Election Day and Town Meeting Gail Wilson stated that there will be a notice in the paper for both the Election Day drive, and the Town Meeting drive. Veronica Warden stated that Glen Harrington volunteered to assist her with pickup up f the food donations the next day after both events. The donations will be distributed at three locations: Falmouth service Center food pantry; St. Vincent DePaul; and a small amount to the Mashpee Village, as they have limited space. The food donations from both events will be stored at the Human Services office for one delivery after Town Meeting on May 6 th The committee voiced appreciation to Glen Harrington for his assistance in the deliveries. 2 Update of the Human services Committee By-Laws Fruth Elias stated that an important part of the upcoming Needs Assessment report focuses on the need to update thecommittee's by-laws. Ails. Elias suggested the following preliminary amendments to the existing by-laws: Article 11, ; substitute the Boars}of Selectmen in plane of Board of Health Article 111, section B, substitute Board of selectmen in place of Board of Health Article III, Section C, Terms: substitute Town Cleric in place of Board of Health Article V, #5, delete the words Board of Health andlor Article V1, Section B, change quorum of 4 to quorum . Article VIII: the question was raised about procedures to by-law amendments. This issue will be investigated by the committee. Mary Scanlan reminded the committee of the discussion some years ago about changing the composition of the committee so that there were more at-large members and fewer town employees.
