W f <br /> Town of Mash ee <br /> f <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> LE Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE — PUBLIC SESSION <br /> Human Services Office— 2:00 PM <br /> June 28, 2013 <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Friday, June 28, 2013 <br /> Committee Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: <br /> Ruth Elias, Chairman John Cahalane Gail Wilson, Human Services Director <br /> Janice Walford, like Chairman Lynne Waterman <br /> Elinor Glener, Clerk Gus Frederick <br /> Marry Scanlan Veronica Warden <br /> Kathy Mohler-Faria <br /> CALL TO ORDER - Chairman Ruth Elias called the meeting to order at 2:15 PM. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS - None. <br /> REVIEW I1 F MINUTES -Thursday, May 30, 201 <br /> Janice Waif rd made a motion that the minutes of 5130!2013 be approved as emended. Elinor <br /> Glener seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 0 review of Human services Dept. Contracts <br /> Gail Wilson reported on attendance at a meeting with Joyce Mason, .John Cahalane, Janice <br /> Walf rd, and Ruth Elias to review the short term goals identified by the Needs Assessment that <br /> were discussed at the May 30, 2013 Human Services Committee meeting. At the meeting with Ms. <br /> Mason and the others, an immediate way to give more money to the Falmouth Service Center was <br /> discussed. A decision was made to take a 10% reduction across the board for all the contracts that <br /> resulted in a total of$3,057 for the Falmouth service Center. Gail Wilson has notified all <br /> contractors about the 10 reduction. <br /> • Review f Volunteers for the Human services Department <br /> - Tax abatement program. Lynne Waterman advised Carl Wilson that there were no more <br /> volunteers availa.ble from the Tax Abatement program until October 2013, but that she would put <br /> the Human Services Department on the Volunteer request list. Ms. Waterman explained that she <br /> had inherited the volunteer program procedures mid-year, and was unable to male revisions to the <br /> process at this time. Ms. Waterman urged Gail Wilson to forward her request for a Human services <br /> Department Volunteer now, to ensure a placement in October. John Cahalane stated that he will <br /> investigate the possibility of authorizing an additional Volunteer to the list. <br /> Cape Cod Volunteers- an online organization posting job descriptions; persons interested would <br /> respond. Background checks would be necessary. <br /> Elder Services of Cape & Islands. lathy Mohler-Faris stated that the group offers assistance to <br /> individuals trying to find wort , paid or Volunteer. Betty Pease is the contact person at Eider <br /> Services. Elinor Glener recommended a review/update of the current Human Services volunteer <br /> job description. <br />
