PERSONNEL BOARS MINUTES PAGE
MIEETING OF APRIL 12, 1995
Assistant Town Accountant position which has a high level of responsibility with the
computer and is very technical. He commented that he thinks there may have been a
mistake. There is a $22 BVI budget in that office. He suggested that Meg look at what
they are perfornfing and that it should be at least a Grade 8.
With reference to the Administrative Assistant to the Board of Selectmen and the
Administrative Assistant to the Executive Secretary, Bob commented that he thought the
Administrative Secretary job description was okay. The Administrative Assistant title
was a problem and there was some confusion. Bob commented that we better do a good
job on these positions.
Meg said that the numbers might have been inaccurate or the charts are wrong and they
can correct it. She said that this is what we are supposed to be doing and this is the way
the process works,
Bob W. said that there are three positions they need to look at --the Administrative
Assistant to the Board of Selectmen, the Adnnistrative Assistant to the Executive
Secretary and the Assistant Town Accountant. Bob said that he does not want to give
to positions the same job title, He said that he has a problem with the Assistant-Town
Accountant and the level of responsibility. Bob said that he wanted to red flag those
positions and the Assistant Town Planner position conmenting that the person who
recently resigned had a Masters Degree.
Carol Dunivan asked about the Assistant Conservation Agent position. Bob W. said that
it does not require a degree and the Assistant Health Agent position does not require a
degree. Bob asked Marilyn Farren if there were any other positions which she felt
should be poked at. Marilyn said that along with the positions mentioned, the Property
Lister position should also be looked at again.
Joe Dellagala said that they needed the job descriptions. Noting that the salary schedule
was drafted up based on a thirty-five hour work week, Joe requested that the salary
schedule be dram up on forty hours. Norma suggested they prepare a schedule based
upon a thirty-seven and one-half hour work week too. Marilyn also mentioned that.the
2% cost of living is going into effect in May and that the new salary schedule should
reflect this. Meg'Ryan commented that they have proposed a salary schedule and that
the town can adjust it for things like cost of living.
Meg reiterated that they write the draft job descriptions -- some still need to be revised.
They got comments back and then wrote the final job description. They did not have the
salary at this point. They then develop a classification plan. They collected salary data
from the colillnumes on the list and from the Mashpee salary information, They looked
at the range of salaries -- the minimum and maximum for eachp osition.
