(This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be
discussed).

The Agent passed around a Certificate of Appreciation to present to the intern Olivia
McFarland who has been working with the Conservation Department over the summer.
Her and Katelyn came up with idea to attend the Barnstable County Fair and promote the
land stewards’ program and the importance of pollinator species.

The Agent sent a letter to the USDA Conservation Services. There is a program that they
manage that is called the Cape Cod Water Resources Program which has funded the
restoration of the Santuit Pond Fish Ladder and the associated Dam. Mashpee received
approximately $375,000 of funding to rebuild the fish ladder in 2013. He said since then, it
was discovered the herring were having great difficulty getting thru the ladder. Over the
years, Marine Fisheries has been making some seasonal fixes to the ladder. He noted it is
all about reducing the turbulence. The purpose of the letter was to acknowledge the
purpose of the grant money and focus on getting a long-term fix to the ladder. He said the
intent is to get a discussion going and take a look at it and come up with a permanent fix to
improve it.

The Agent reviewed a report from the Assistant Agent which noted tree removal is
continuing with DPW. An AmeriCorps individual will be placed with us one day a week.
He said Katelyn worked with some volunteers this week at Santuit Pond parking area
which is looking great. Katelyn has issued new citations for dumping. She helped with the
pollinator gardens at the Tribal Property and has asked any of the land stewards to help
with the community gardens’ weeding. The Mashpee Natural Wildlife Trail Maps are in its
final stages. She continues to assist the Natural Resources with Water Quality Testing
and continues to do some more trail clearing.

Motion: Mr. Sweet moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Dalton.
