Conservation Commission Minutes
Thursday, MAY 10, 2018
Mashpee Town Hall
Ockway Meeting Room

Commissioners Present: Dale McKay, Brad Sweet, Chad Smith, Bud Shaw and
Stephanie Simpson

Also Present: Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent and Judy Daigneault,
Recording Secretary

CALL MEETING TO ORDER: 5:55 p.m.

Chairman Dale McKay opened the meeting at 5:55 p.m.

PRE/POST-HEARING AGENDA:

Minutes: Approve April 12, & 26, 2018 Minutes

Motion: Brad Sweet moved to approve the April 12, 2018 minutes, seconded by Stephanie
Simpson. Vote 3-2 with Chad Smith and Bud Shaw abstaining.

Motion: Mr. Sweet moved to approve the April 26, 2018 minutes, seconded by Chad Smith.
Vote 4-0.

Update: Lopez land swap approved at Town Meeting, next step in process

The Agent noted the Lopez land swap article was approved at town meeting. The swap is for 3.72
acres of land. The Lopez family would get 3.72 acres of land within the Lopez conservation area
which is all upland of which their existing driveway runs thru and in exchange, the Commission gets
an equal acreage portion of Lopez land which still abuts existing conservation land and runs all the
way to the river. The article passed without incident at town meeting and the next step is to send it
off to the State Attorney General’s office where they will review it and the State Legislature has to
take a vote of 2/3rds majority to approve it and then the swap would go thru with a new deed for that
property.

HEARINGS:

Bud Shaw stepped down from this hearing as an abutter
