<br /> <br /> <br />Conservation Commission Minutes <br />Thursday, June 14, 2018 <br />Mashpee Town Hall <br />Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Dale McKay, Thomas O’Neill, Brad Sweet, Stephanie <br />Simpson <br /> <br />Also Present: Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent and Judy Daigneault, <br />Recording Secretary <br /> <br />CALL MEETING TO ORDER: 5:55 p.m. <br /> <br />The Meeting was called to order by Chairman McKay at 5:55 p.m. <br /> <br />No comments from the public <br /> <br />PRE/POST-HEARING AGENDA: <br /> <br />Minutes: Approve May 24, 2018 Minutes <br /> <br />Hold <br /> <br /> Update: Herring Runs <br /> <br />The Agent gave an update on the herring runs and stated today was the end of the herring season. <br />Based on the counts, Mashpee will be one of the highest on the Cape this year. <br /> <br />Update – Conservation Lands – Santuit Pond Preserve <br /> <br />The Agent stated the Assistant Agent has ordered 7 tree saplings to be planted in the parking lot at <br />Santuit Pond Preserve along with native shrubs to go in between the trees. Also, a box will be <br />planted with Native pollinators under the sign. <br /> <br />He stated they held a cookout to thank the Ameri Corps volunteers for all of their work. They have <br />one more service day this year in July where they will be doing some trail work at Santuit Pond. <br />There were 8 service days this year. They have taken down a lot of trees that were fallen over trails <br />and have done a lot of tree work including the steps at Santuit Pond Preserve. They have done an <br />amazing amount of work this year along with the kiosks and pollinator gardens.
