Chair inquired about the significance of the colors on the plan and Mr. Braginton-S mith noted <br /> that the 1 inch main was yellow, 8 inch was blue, 6 inch was orange and 4 inch was green. <br /> Santuit and Mashpee Fond area would also require expansion. <br /> The second proposal was developed ini October 2010 and included the possibility of utilizing <br /> New Seabury with complete and comprehensive sewering.- The plan did not include Secon ett <br /> and Monomoscoy.Islands, which presents some challenges, including the need to go through <br /> F'alinouth. The Chair inquired about the possibility of going under the liver and Mr. Braginton# <br /> Smith agreed that it would be one option but that there were other considerations. Mr. <br /> Bra inton-Smith also suggested the possibility of utilizing River Road and sever from the <br /> station above or create a small vacuum station on Seconsett.1sland. Mr. Braginton-Smith added <br /> that a small vacuum station could be built to provide a vessel pump out station for the marina a <br /> well as at New Seabury. Mr. Braginton-Smith summarized that their proposal provided for <br /> comprehensive sewering for the entre town that would include 61,200 connections and <br /> approximately 3,100 valve pits, 8 vacuum stations and could cost$5,00046,200 per connection. <br /> Mr. Bra inton-Smith provided copies of the proposals to the Chair and will forward electronic <br /> copies-for the other Commissioners- <br /> Mr. Lyons inquired whether the entire project proposed would cost $38 million and Mr. <br /> Braginton-Smith confirmed that it would. lir. O'Hara inquired whether the cost included <br /> connections to the home and Mr. Bragiton-Smith stated that it did not include the connection to <br /> the home but added that he hoped that the number of valve pits could be reduced. Mr. O'Hara <br /> asked about the estimated cost to connect t the home and Mr. raginton-Smith.responded that it <br /> would be approximately $3,500 for piping, decommissioning of the septic tank and the line t <br /> the valve pit. Chairman Fudala stated his hope that he would have received a proposal that <br /> would have matched the service areas determined by the Sewer Commission along with a cost <br /> breakdown. Mr. Braginton-Smith responded that he could modify the proposal and base it o,n the <br /> pink circled areas from the map. lam-. � Iarcelli inquired whether M-T' Braglnton-Smith's proposal <br /> took into consideration all of the existing wastewater treatment facilities and whether they would <br /> be connected to the system. Mr. Braginton-Snaith responded that pre-existing treatment areas <br /> were exempted from the proposal. <br /> -]E/One--Grinder Pump Imw Pressure System <br /> Ed Quann, F.R. Mahoney& Associates, reported that his company has represented the <br /> Environment One (E/One) sewer system for 30 years. Mr. Quann provided copies of the report <br /> and presentation to each of the Commissioners. Mr. Quann reported that he addressed six sites <br /> in Mashpee and examined the use of low pressure suer systems using Tae grinder pumps at <br /> the identified collection areas_ <br /> Mr. Quann stated that each home would have a pump and the piping would follow grade <br /> approximately 4 feet below grade at a constant flow and could go up or down as needed. The <br /> Force main would run to the street and would feature a shut off at the property line. Mr. Quann <br /> laid out the system in branches, beginning at the.end and running along to a collection site. Mr. <br /> Quann stated that each home would tie in to a conunaon force main in the street. Mr. Quann <br /> noted that the force main could start as a 2 or 3 inch pipe but could increase to a 10 inch pipe.. <br /> Among the collection areas examined, Mr. Quann assessed the Back Road d Site, Heritage Park <br /> Site, High School Site, Reeter Site, Neter Seabury and the Transfer Station Site. The cost <br /> estimate summary includes pump cost, pump installation cost(including electrical) and force <br /> 6 <br />
