Gurnee
22 Little Neck Lane
Mashpee, MA 02649
o
January 28, 2011 00
r)
Office of Selectmen
Mashpee Town Hall ;
16 Great Neck Road North ;
Mashpee, MA 02649
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am offering myself as a candidate for membership on the Mashpee'Sewer Commission. My
training and experience will allow me to be a valuable member'of the Commission. I can see that
defining the approach to addressing Mashpee's waste water problem is the most important
Mashpee government task in the.next few years,and I want to be part of that.
I have a BS from Caltech in.Physics, and a MA and PhD from Princeton in Physics. I have spent
thirty years in technical and management positions in .industry, with a staff of up to 120 and a
budget over$20M. My wife and I moved to Mashpee on my retirement in 2003, and I have since
worked as a consultant to the Federal Government, defining program objectives, assisting in
Source Selection; and monitoring program progress for several major programs.
I have also been a member of the Mashpee Conservation Commission for the past two years.
.Mr. Drew McManus can comment on my contributions there.
While my experience is not in waste.water management, I have a great deal of experience in
defining objectives, understanding technical issues, performing cost-benefit tradeoffs, and
generally cutting through the smoke to determine the best way to approach a problem and
execute the solution.
I have enclosed a resume with further details on my experience.
Sincerely,
Mark N.Gurnee
(5?9 M 9 3 V
