They are state of the art blowers that <br /> replaced four blowers that were 13 years plus old. The action taken by Stratford Ponds eliminated the likelihood <br /> that the old blowers would fail. This was important because it required three months for delivery and installation <br /> of the new blowers, As a result, the noise and heat generated by the old blowers was substantially eliminated <br /> and the operation of the plant was improved. <br /> After a recent storm in Mashpee, the Treatment Plant suffered a stoppage due to a power surge. The power <br /> surge knocked out a pump and required emergency use of a back-up generator. The pump was replaced with a <br /> new pump and the damaged pump was repaired and will be available for use as a back-up. <br /> The capacity of the power source from AmericaGas located at the plant was insufficient for the length of time of <br /> the power outage so that additional gas had to be delivered during the power outage until the new pump was <br /> delivered and installed. The plant now has a 500-gallon capacity tank and is considering taking delivery on a <br /> 1,000 gallon tank. Attaching a natural gas line to assure a permanent source of supply is under consideration. <br /> In addition, we received Notice from DEP that our existing Groundwater Discharge Permitst was extended by two <br /> years based on a state law that was passed for permits that were approved in the period-August 15, 2008 - <br /> August 15, 2010. Our permit now expires on 9/23/2016. Our renewal permit will be due on 3/27/2016. The law <br /> signed by Governor Patrick was Chapter 240 of the Acts of 2010. Section 173 of this Act is known as the Permit <br /> Extension Act("PEA" or"the Act). <br /> If you have any questions, please call me.
