Environmental Oversight Committee-fir. Petersen reported that there will be an <br /> Environmental oversight meeting next Thursday. Blue Book final comments have been <br /> submitted. The Friends of Santuit Pond had submitted an application to the Community <br /> Preservation Committee seeking funds for the Solar Bee.solar powered circulators. The <br /> Mashpee DPW-is now the sponsor of the application, with the Friends and Mashpee <br /> Envirommental Coalition.serving as co-sponsors. The application has nested funds in <br /> the amount of$3571,200 from the CPC for the units and foes for operations, per ittm& <br /> and maintenance would become the responsibility of the DPW. Mr. Balzarini inquired <br /> bow the DPW acquired the funds to maintain the circulators. Mr. Petersen was unsure <br /> and noted that the original application detailed a cost of$1,000 per year for maintenance <br /> whereas the original quote was S 15,000 per year representing an overall cost of 210,000 <br /> over the next 15 gears. Mr. Fudala inquired about the category for which the application <br /> would be eligible and the Chair responded that it would be open Space and that the funds- <br /> would serve to preserve open spade that would be harmed if no action was taken. The <br /> Chair added that there was-also gown land around the pond that could also be impacted. <br /> It has been determined that the application represented an eligible use of funds, although <br /> it has not yet been approved. Mr. Petersen noted#] tree technologies were considered, <br /> but tbat.the circulators were the mid-cost option. The technologies considered included <br /> dredging, aeration and an alum treatment. lir. Petersen expressed concern that figures in <br /> the report did not match the actual costs in the proposal but Ms. Laurent has indicated <br /> that the'Torun would be developing an RFP for the project to seek additional cost <br /> competitive proposals. <br /> Design Review Committee-Mr. Kooharian reported that the Leach Animal Hospital sign <br /> was approved as weft as a change to the Stop& Shop sign incorporating-their new logo. <br /> In addition, the Bistro 36 sign has been approved. <br /> Community Preservation Comm i to -C rman Waygan reported that several articles <br /> would appear on the Town Meeting warrant to include requests for CPA funds in the <br /> amount of$63,925 to improve the Pickerel Cove reicreation area(Article , $200,000 for <br /> the preservation ofthe:fashpee Archives(Article and $25,000 for habitat for <br /> Humanity for a proposed affordable home on. umll Road d (Article .
