Then the groups swapped locations,walking past the Mashpee River herring run <br /> where Wampanoag people fished for many centuries. The Indian Museunn program has been <br /> handled very.successftffly this year by Kitty Hendricks, <br /> Frank also has about six additional tours scheduled for the upcoming weeks. He regularly is at <br /> the School Douse on Thursdays all summer from 1 o:ooarn to 2:o pm. In addition, he is pl nm'ng <br /> to make a PowerPoint erPoint pr sent tion to the Council on Agmng on Friday, July 11"', at 1:30pm. <br /> Walling Map conservator <br /> During the late fall and winter Nancy visited and obtained estimates from 3 paper conservators in <br /> Andover, Chatham, and Somerville to get the torn 1858 Wa.11%ng map of Cape Cod, Martha!s <br /> Vineyard and Nantucket repaired for display in the Archives. Maps of Antiquity in Chatham <br /> submitted the only estimate that came Within the$2000 approved funding from the Community <br /> Preservation Committee. This company suggested the map be hung on rods rather than rolled <br /> and covered with mylar to protect it from viewers. They are looking for a treatment for the mylar <br /> to protect the map from UV damage.Nancy will deliver the map to Chatham in the next few <br /> weeks for the conservator to remove the varnish and old linen backing, wash,then splice in <br /> scans of missing content, re-back with archive quality material,trim with silk fibbon to protect <br /> edges and attach hanging rods. Process will take approximately 3 months. <br /> Winter infornnation re sts <br /> While the Archives was closed during the winter we received 3 requests for historical/ <br /> genealogical information from the public,plus a request from the town for input on planned <br /> upgrades to signage and access for vehicular and pedestrian traffic along route 15 L <br /> Old Business: There has not been time enough for the DPW to work on the project o <br /> Restoration of Mashpee Cemeteries. <br /> New Business: Mashpee Historical Commission reopened for the year in its temporary town hall <br /> location on May 26th;the School House reopened follovAng the town Memorial Day celebration <br /> on May 23rd. <br /> Catherine Laurent,unable to attend this meeting,predicted by email move back into the Archives <br /> Building in raid-.1uly. <br /> Discussion of furnishings, layout,etc for the Archives Building was postponed to next meeting. <br /> Our next meeting 'is scheduled for Thursday, July ,at 11;o a . <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 2:3 oprn. <br />
