parking spaces at Mashpee Town Hall and Mashpee Town Offices. Mr. Horner also recommended
several other locations for Veteran parking spaces throughout Town. Ms. Wilson inquired about
eligibility to park in the space and whether they would need an identifier as a Veteran. Ms. Johnson-
Graham suggested the possibility of the Town creating a special placard. The Chair suggested using
the proposal to create a more focused request to the Board of Selectmen. The Chair suggested not
including details about handicap parking and Ms. Waterman suggested listing"town buildings" rather
than identifying specific buildings. It was noted that the Committee would be making suggestions to
the Board of Selectmen. There was also consensus to focus on creating signage for the Town prior to
reaching out to private companies. It was suggested that the space be provided at the back of Town
Hall since space was limited in the front.
Ms. Wilson made a motion to propose Veterans Parking Spaces to the Selectmen. Ms. Johnson-
Graham seconded the motion. All voted unanimously.
The Chair recommended meeting with Selectman Cotton to revise the proposal, noting that it should
come from the Committee as a recommendation, not just Mr. Horner. The proposal would be
reviewed at the next meeting. There was consensus that Committee members liked the signage
provided by Simon Malls.
Individual Member Reports-Ms. Wilson announced that the Library Director wished to
address the Committee in December or January. Several librarians are receiving some training she
would like to discuss at the meeting. There was consensus to schedule for January. It was suggested
to invite Homeowners Associations, but it was thought that it could be premature. Ms, Doyle
suggested an individual from the Housing Assistance Corporation, Cape Housing Institute. Ms.
Johnson-Graham recommended developing consistent questions for speakers and Ms_ Waterman
agreed. Mr. Horner suggested inviting someone from a Veteran training program. Ms. Johnson-
Graham inquired about potential questions and the Chair recommended review of the Committee's
policy. Members will identify questions to be asked.
Ms. Doyle inquired about her role in social media and whether she should collect information or
establish a Facebook page. Ms. Wilson responded that it would need to be addressed by the Town
Manager. Ms. Doyle referenced the challenges of attending Town Meeting with small children and
inquired whether childcare could be offered to make the Town more inclusive. Ms. Doyle would
develop a proposal. The Chair stated that Ms. Nadeau would be contacting the Boys/Girls Club. The
Chair inquired about making an announcement about the Committee and Ms. Waterman emphasized
contacting the Town Manager's office because the Committee was Town sponsored. Ms. Waterman
recommended that there be further discussion in December about the operational components of the
Committee, including social media. Ms. Doyle would post the Simon Veteran signage on Mashpee
Messaging.
The Chair discussed the Human Rights Academy and Tribal students that were involved. Ms.
Johnson-Graham will follow up for more information. She will also follow up with Ms. Ferrell about
the Human Rights Club, Ms. Johnson-Graham announced that the Tribe was hosting an open house
over the weekend.
