Coombs School <br /> School Council Meeting <br /> May 8, 2002 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:35PM in the K.C.C. conference room. <br /> Present at the meeting were: Louise Doyle, Kathleen Penney, Diane Cook, Greg Taylor, <br /> Alison Robbins, Linda Kot, Daren Tessicini, Jennifer LeFavor and Carolyn Ryan. <br /> I. There weren't any open forum items on the agenda. <br /> II. April minutes were approved with minor revisions. Unanimous. <br /> III. School Budget <br /> • <br /> 11 positions will be effected, including, Title One, Special Education, and <br /> Specialists. <br /> Nurse's Aid position is still in question. we do not have proofthat the <br /> grant will be in effect. <br /> Kindergarten <br /> Kindergarten registration is up to 158 students. It is possible that K.C.C. will have <br /> kindergarten classes for the school year 2002-2003. <br /> Validation date for kindergarten accreditation is Thursday, May 16. They will visit 6 of <br /> the 8 kindergarten classes. They will inspect everything,, including, outlet covers, hot <br /> water, and multicultural material in the classroom. <br /> Fencing around the playground will occur within the next couple of weeks, as we do need <br /> it for accreditation. Maintenance is creating signs through the Mashpee D.P.W. outlining <br /> the use.of the sandbox and the playground. The the garden was cleared with the help o <br /> Mr. Krait and the community service members_ The the garden must be completed by <br /> the end of the school year. <br /> We may forecast 10-1retentions in Kindergarten this year. Retention is very <br /> individualized. If a student is on an I. .P., they will move on to the next grade. <br /> Collaborative <br /> We are not sure if the collaborative will be here at K.C.C. next year. They may be in the <br /> Quashnet School. IIIc. Tippo will have a classroom available because they are losing a <br /> third grade classroom. The collaborative students are mainstreamed into the classroom, <br /> especially music and art. A classroom adopts a student from the collaborative and that <br /> student joins the class for its specials. <br />
