` School Information 0 We will be able to add more depth to our reading, writing and math curne lum next year. 0 Type I, II, III writing will remain in tact for next year. • Comprehensive Literacy will be a new goal for the upcoming school year. • Graphic organizers will be utilized more next year. 0 Playground safety will become a focus. • School environment will be improved through murals, Second Step, and school rules. • Parents will be informed of our new math program. Parents need to he informed of homer vire teach to the students. Mrs. Gifford and Mrs. Cogswell will have the carpet removed from their classrooms for the school year 2002-2003. Mrs. Doyle will put a packet together and we will chart out each goal and begin to work on next year's school improvement plan. Iv. other Anne English and Mrs. Doyle attended the International leading Association Conference with over 17,,000 people in attendance_ They attended Reading, Writing, Listening, Spearing, and SpellingWorlshops. Guided leading, Running Records, and Title one were the thrust of the program. Next year will be a depth and stabilization year for I .C.C. rather than an innovation year. Highlight of the conference was the Fontas and Pinnell workshop. All the experts recommend phonics. Title one was also a very popular concept. "'Between the Lions" is a television show that teaches children how to read and children really seem to enjoy it. Teachers are encouraged to read a poem to the class everyday. Materials from the conference will be distributed for the 2002-200school year. Family literacy was another major or focus of the conference. It affirmed the fact that K.C.C_ is on the right track for our reading program. Meeting adjourned at 7: 9 M. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2002.
