T ~ <br /> In the past few years, Title I reduction of funds has threatened the loss of a Tile I <br /> paraprofessional. It has also tIffeatened up to two Title I teachers. <br /> NUMBER 4 } <br /> If the Title f Grant is not ren ed, the following results:{ <br /> 0 One .8 paraprofessional will be lost at Coombs <br /> • One .2 paraprofessional will he lost at Quaslmet <br /> • One or two 1.0 reading teachers will be lost <br /> • There will be no remediation whatsoever for reading at the Loom s as Title I is the <br /> only remediation program in the building . <br /> • Developmentally, grade one students arem' ergent readers and grade two st0d nts <br /> actually begin to read. Wben grade two students transition to grade three, if;n t at <br /> grade level, they are at risk with MCAS reading tests. Much of this "risk"Is duet <br /> developmental rather than academic ability, thus, Title I support is critical. Without <br /> good reading ability all other core academic areas are impacted as well. <br /> DUMBER <br /> If the Early Childhood Grant is not renewed, the following results: <br /> • 1 .4 teacher position will,be lost F <br /> • There will be no 1HP team chair for the preschool level. These responsibilities will <br /> have to be absorbed into already stressed caseloads of the present .5 tai chair for <br /> grades kindergarten through grade two. <br /> • Affects early intervention again. <br /> • Affects principal's support in the building. <br /> • Affects 1 P service delivery and timelines <br /> • Legal issues regarding TEPs <br />
