Some of the questions are setting up a 501C3 or if an interim organization to step in. How do
we funnel the money to contractors? Does the town write the check to the contractors? If we
are asking for contributions, how do we set that up. What is the verbiage we will be using?
Who are they donating to? Where does in kind services get reported? What fund will the
application fees go into? Will a revolving fund be set up? Can we be supported by a nonprofit
such as MEC? Donation of legal services? Pamela agreed to make a list of questions to
send to Wayne Taylor and think about inviting Wayne to a future meeting.
REPORT
Community Preservation Committee (CPC) grant status
Town review of MCGAC Rules & Regulations, etc.
Communication with Mashpee IT Dept.
The Committee discussed the town's website. The Chair stated she spoke with Dave
DelVecchio and he told her there is a real uniformity of what can be on the website and all
information needs to go thru his office. She asked the members to come up with information
they want to include in the website. Mohammad will speak to the IT Director about links and
the boiler plate items. The Board members also will provide their rules and regulations and
forms to be included in the website. Starting a Facebook page was also discussed using it as
one of the tools to get information to the public. Mohammad will be the contact person for the
website.
Motion: Pamela McCarthy moved that the town website be set up by their next
meeting, January 16, 2019. Seconded by Anthony Oliver. Vote unanimous 6-0
OLD BUSINESS
Continue discussion on companies we will be asking for donations for 2019 season.
NEW BUSINESS
Recommendations for additional publicity and newspaper articles —the Board
The members briefly discussed getting newspaper coverage of what they are doing.
Other new business and Action Items.
Anthony said he would like to plan on setting up the gardens in February and perhaps get
donations of soil and woodchips and working them in. Maybe put in some green manure in
the spring. He could use a tiller and a broad fork. He would also check if DPW could drop a
load of woodchips at the gardens. The committee should also consider purchasing a broad
fork and some cover crop seeds, and field peas. These can be planted as soon as the
ground is not frozen. Heavy weight plastic can be used to cover them to help with
germination. He would need about 5 yards of wood chips.
Fencing was discussed and to think about using animal fencing/turkey fencing. It was noted
the committee will keep the Historical Commission informed on their plans.
2
