Don MacDonald said that work on the Great River/Little River channel extensions are still progressing.
Don also noted that funds had been transferred for the Mashpee Waterways Commission account to
pay for the Popponesset Bay Dredge work,as contracted.
Other Business:
Don Barton made comments on the recent decision by the Selectman to not approve supplemental
funding for the purchase of shellfish seed to sustain the planned nitrogen reduction effort of the DNR.
He stated this much heralded initiative,to offset decades of nitrogen loading, had suffered a setback.
He felt the decision to curtail the funding was ill advised because the program will now not be allowed
to scale up and demonstrate its ability to mitigate the nitrogen buildup that confronts the Town.
He asked Don MacDonald if the MWC could make a recommendation to the Selectman to reconsider
the cancellation of the DNR funding request. Don MacDonald stated that this consideration can be
considered at the next scheduled meeting.
At this time, a visitor was recognized. Daniel Weinbaum,of Spindletop Common Wealth Advisors LLC,
introduced himself. He explained that he was interested in building a new marina in Ockway Bay and in
developing a private/public partnership which would make the project feasible. He said that there was a
big demand for these services and the project could be financially successful. Don MacDonald thanked
him for the information and update.
A motion to adjourn was made by Don MacDonald and 2"d by Stan Healy and approved. The meeting
adjourned at 10:00 AM.
