Town, he stated he was convinced that the water footprint in this grant would never, ever revert back to <br /> "open waters"again and will be lost to recreation permanently. Finally, he urged the Town to restore <br /> funding to their own non-intrusive, nitrogen reduction shellfish program in order to meet their Federal <br /> mandate-and, by default, not rely on commercial grants. <br /> A motion was made by Tim Leedham,seconded by Stan Healy to move that the Burtis Grant Expansion <br /> Application be approved with the applicant agreeable to the addition of 3 additional markers(one each <br /> on sides A. D, E.). The proximity of the Falmouth mooring field and the Assoclation/Community dock <br /> were far enough away from the Tract to provide safe navigation. The Applicants, via community <br /> outreach to kayakers, have allowed paddling through the present tract to access the "Island" and the <br /> applicant will continue with that program in the expanded tract should the grant be issued. <br /> Three members voted yes, one member voted no, one member on call in voted yes. Motion passed. <br /> Od Business <br /> Harbormaster Report: <br /> John Santangelo gave the report. He announced that Alex Turner,the Harbormaster, had resigned and <br /> he was attending to those duties. John said the Town would be advertising for a new qualified <br /> candidate. He also mentioned that all the boats were winterized; and equipment stored. <br /> DNR Director Shellfish Constable Re ort <br /> Ashley Fisher said that she was involved in the processing of the proposed shellfish oyster grants. She <br /> announces that two waterway assistants had been hired and an AmeriCorp member had been added to <br /> hersupport group. She noted that green crabs were still a predatory risk to seed. <br /> When asked about how the Town's funding cut will impact future operations for shellfish propagation, <br /> Rick York simply stated that there would be an impact. <br /> Committee Re orfs: <br /> Mashpee/Wakeby Lake and Johns Pond—Rick York noted that the santuit Pond water quality had <br /> improved significantly. <br /> Popponesset Bay Area—John stated that a winter stick blew out and will be repaired. <br /> Waquoit Bay Area—John said there were no issues. <br /> Water Quality Update—No report <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resources Committee Update—No report <br /> Sewer Committee Update Report—No report, no recent meetings <br /> Public Access Update: No new information reported <br /> Waterways Improvement Plan and Dred in : <br /> Ken Bates reported that work continues on the waterways extensions planning with surveys to be <br /> conducted in the next two to three weeks. <br />
