The Chair reviewed the discussion the committee had with Marc Goldberg from SCORE at their June 26 meeting. She noted all of the SCORE staff are volunteers and everything they do is free. Mr. Goldberg talked about how SCORE helps businesses. The Chair said during the meeting they came up with different ideas and one was why not have EDIC hold a"Bring Your Idea for a Business to Town" and have a SCORE mentor there and give participants three minutes to stand up and share their ideas, It would be a way to have an individual "Pitch Their Business" and be prepared to speak for two minutes. She suggested inviting Chamber members and inviting Mashpee TV to cover it. 5. Communications and Correspondence The Chair distributed information from the Planning Department on OpenCounter, The Mashpee Planning Department in collaboration with the Cape Cod Commission, developed a web-based zoning portal with OpenCounter. OpenCounter is an intuitive tool designed to make local regulations accessible to the public by revealing parcel level zoning details, including existing uses, overlay and planned development districts. This helps applicants understanding zoning challenges and opportunities for projects before engaging with municipal staff. There is no fee for the first year beginning September 1, 2018. After that the fee is $5,000 a year. The Chair suggested EDIC become the sponsor of this program which guides businesses through the whole permitting process. The website is inashpee.opencountencom. The Chair stated the Town Planner will come in to our next meeting to demonstrate it. She said to promote this we can work with the Town Planner and have a press release for the paper, 6. Treasurer's Report Robyn Simmons announced that our total is $383,620.35. There was a discussion on opening up another CD or Money Market. Robyn noted our insurance is due March 1. It was agreed to get some of the rates and discuss at the next meeting. 7. Communication and Correspondence The Chair said there is an article on the Town Meeting warrant and it is called Overlay District. This is being proposed for all industrial districts. This would allow businesses to make it, serve it, and sell it retail at the same location. In order to do this, we have to change and adopt the overlay district which will go to town meeting in October. The Chair noted she invited Marylou Palumbo from the Chamber to come to our next meeting.
