bought a mobi neat which holds wheel chairs and DPW built a wooden access to get the people <br /> on the wheelchair up to the neat. The storms cane and the ramps were damaged. The recreation <br /> department has two beach wheel chairs but can nowonly be used at John"s Pond. Michele noted <br /> the therapeutic playground is a great success. Bob Wooldridge said he would follow up on this <br /> discussion. <br /> Michele asked is someone going to check on the businesses as far as handicap access and asked <br /> if anything will be put in the windows indicating their accessibility. <br /> Mike suggested having the Chamber produce the stickers for the businesses. Bob said he would <br /> be asking the restaurants if they could come up with large-print menus. Mike.e suggested working <br /> with the Chamber and come up with a,list of qualifications so the restaurants can get a sticker. <br /> He said we want to get them to qualify but to beep it simple and make it positive. <br /> Chairman Wooldridge discussed bus tours from the senior center and homer Bev couldn"t get on <br /> the bus because of her wheelchair, The tours are operated privately. Mike suggested the senior <br /> center is going to have to get involved. He asked is it the responsibility of the senior center and <br /> if not, the Senior Center could let the tour company know that if they want-to advertise they reed <br /> to be accessible. This committee could investigate to see what companies have accessibility and <br /> then let the senior center know. By reaching out maybe another company will-be willing to do it. <br /> Bob said he has been working with other committees on the Cape and they all have the sane <br /> problem, There is an organization on the Cape where all the chairman get together periodically. <br /> He will check on thio s, <br /> Bob Wooldridge sent out a draft copy of the annual report. He drafted the report and asked if <br /> anyone has any changes, suggestions, corrections to let him know. <br /> Charlie Maintanis reported on a written complaint regarding Industrial Drive. One of the bus <br /> drivers wanted to know why there wary't more handicap parking, Charlie said he has been in <br /> contact with the owner and they said they would comply with a request to prepare a parking plan, <br /> He noted the building was originally a warehouse. The property doesn"t have the necessary <br /> signage. Mie said if the owner doesn't come thru our recourse is to notify the planning board <br /> that their conditions have not been met. Charlie is working with the owner so they can clarify <br /> what they need to do, Community Connections is renting the property but the owner is <br /> responsible. <br /> Motion: Michele Brady moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Charlie a.intanis, vote <br /> unanimous 4-0 <br /> -Meeting adjourned 3:30 p.m. <br /> I sp ectfu l ly sub rnitd, <br /> J Y g cau t <br /> ecor ing Secretary <br />
