SIEMENS
•Any mark-up casts Siemens proposes a standard material mark-up of 15%
•Any escalating adding within and past the initial term.
Siemens proposes that a 2%adjustment be applied'on July 1 of each year during the initial term
of 3 years and continuing should the contracts be extended into years 4 and S. We have found
that communities prefer that these adjustments coincide with their new fiscal year so that
budgets can be adjusted ahead of time,if necessary. This proposed adjustment will primarily
allow us to keep pace with bi-annual prevailing wage adjustments and increases in fuel costs,
etc.,therefore, this adjustment will have a negligible impact on overhead and profit.
• Cost for night-time audits
Siemens has held several contracts that have included night patrols over the years and this
experience has led us to the following recommended procedure:we propose that night-time
audits be conducted by a licensed journeyman electrician who would immediately repair lights
as outages are observed. The cost to complete a night-time audit by a spotter who records the
information and then passes it to the electrician for follow-up is higher than fixing the outages
while there. The downside to this option is thatthere may be night-time noise associated with
the repair work in some cases. A waiver from the community's construction noise ordinance
may be required if this option were employed. Given the frequency that LED fixtures require
maintenance, any noise-related disturbance at a particular pole is anticipated to be very
infrequent, perhaps just once for a matter of minutes during the course of the 5-year contract.
Given that a night-time differential must be paid to the electrician to work at night, the
proposed cost would be$200 per hour. The duration of a night patrol (total hours required)
would depend upon the number of outages spotted and repaired. The fewer the outages, the
fewer hours that would be required to complete the night-time audit. Siemens would
recommend audits occur October to March in order to avoid the peak season of visitors and to
maximize the number of hours of darkness where outages can be identified.
Siemens its open to discussing an alternative night audit procedure(observe& report, fix during
a subsequent daytime shift)should the CLC members prefer.
Siemens Mobility Massachusetts:8 Progress Road Tel.; +1 978.262.9010
Billerica,MA 01821 Fax+1978.262.9020
