SI BEJCT: Minutes of the meeting of the Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act <br /> Committee, August 3, 2004 <br /> The Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee (1IADC) net Tuesday, August <br /> 2004 at Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room#2. <br /> Members 1.n atten ante: <br /> William undon <br /> Mari 1 yn F arre n <br /> James Marr <br /> Patricia Parolsi <br /> Russell wheeler <br /> Beverly Wooldridge <br /> ORGANIZATION AND MISSION <br /> Organizing the committee was the first order of business. The members decided it was <br /> most appropriate to appoint a member of the community familiar Frith the issues <br /> impacting the disabled, vice an elected or appointed town official,to head the committee. <br /> Accordingly, Bill Dundon and Beverly Wooldridge were elected co-chairs. Robert <br /> Wooldridge was nominated to fill the vacant seat on the committee and was elected <br /> committee Secretary. Marilyn offered to submit Beverly and Bob's names to the <br /> Selectmen for reappointment and appointment,respectively. <br /> The committee proposed the following draft mission statement: The Mashpee Americans <br /> with Disabilities Act Committee will assist in providing civil rights protections to <br /> individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, <br /> color, sex,national origin, age, and religion. This includes assisting in insuring equal <br /> opportunity for individuals with disabilities in employment,town services, and in the <br /> goods and services provided by businesses. <br /> PENDING ISSUES: <br /> The committee discussed an email from Mr. Charles l apagni of South Cape Estates <br /> complaining that street signs in South Cape Estates are inadequate and health care <br /> providers have considerable difficulty reaching his family. His discussions with the <br /> community association have,thus far, been unproductive. The committee agreed to send <br /> letter to the president of the community association outlining the problem and <br /> requesting comment. Bob agreed to provide a draft letter for Marilyn to put on town <br /> letterhead stationary for dispatch by registered mail. <br /> Russ wheeler is having discussions with Roche Brothers regarding the placement of <br /> parting spaces for the disabled near the front of the store. The issue remains open and <br /> discussions are continuing. <br />
