Community Preservation Committee
Minutes
June 1, 1
Catherine Laurent—O ckwa a at&. rovernent Pro'ect—PhaseII
In May of 2016,the CPC voted to approve and recommend the Ockway Bay Boat Ramp
Improvement project in the amount of$75,000 to Town Meeting. Catherine Laurent,Director of
Public Works requested consideration to move forward with the$121,500 request to
survey/engineer the property and complete the parking lot re-construction for the users of the
facility.
Currently, parking on the dirt lot is random and not specific. Reconfiguration of the site location
would give.the ability to park 17 boats with trailers on an angle parking design for one way
traffic circulation. with a site plan and official parking, the space is therefore claimed for its
users.
Currently, there are shells temporarily stored at the Ockway Landing for the Shoestring Bay
Oyster Bed Restoration project. This project involves the Town of Mashpee in collaboration
with the Mashp ee Wamp ano ag Tribe Natural Resources Department. There is no defh itivo
timeline for the removal of the shells at this site location. However, it is hopeful the Town
Manager and Board of Selectmen will impose a time constraint.
Although it has not been decided upon by the Town Manager and Board of Selectmen, future
plans at the 3.2 acre site in Phase III include a future facility for the Department of Natural
Resources.
For disclosure Mr. Hyde indicated he is involved in a potential third phase for this proiIect and
would recluse himself from voting on this matter.
Motion made by Mrs. Sherman to approve and recommend the Ockway Bay Boat Damp
Improvement Project—Phase 11 in the amount of$121,500 to the October 2017 Town
Meeting. Funding for this project shall derive from the 10% open pace/Recreation
Deserves.
Motion seconded by Mr.Larkin.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
Roll Call vote*
1r.Halpern,yes Mr. Larkin,yes Mrs* Sherman,yes
Mrs.Thayer,yes Mr. Hyde,stepped down opposed,none
