Page 1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 6, 1997 <br /> Present: Selectman Costa,Selectman Frye, Selectman Marters, <br /> Selectman Caffyn, Selectman Dinizlo <br /> Executive Swretary Robert whri enour <br /> Meeting Called to girder by Chairman Costa at 2:30 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Meeting Roam#I <br /> M&BUDGET WORKSHOP: <br /> The Board of Selectmen conducted a workshop session for the purpose <br /> of reviewing the fiscal year 1998 budget. Diane Rornmelmey r-, <br /> Town Accountant was present for the budget review discussion. <br /> Police Department: <br /> William Przylylek,Chief of Police and Maurice Cooper,Deputy Chief o <br /> Police were present to address the FY98 Police Department budget <br /> with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> The Police Department submitted several Annual Town Meeting war-r~ant <br /> articles to the Board for consideration, and requested the folloing <br /> adjustment proposals; <br /> Article##23: Upgrade the position of Police Department Records Clerk <br /> from Grade 2 to Grade 4, and appropriate from available funds, the sum <br /> of$732.88 to the Police part-time salary account. <br /> Article##24: To create the position of Police Sergeant,and appropriate <br /> the sum of$43,997 from available funds for this purpose. <br /> Chief Pybylek recommended the Board remove Article##24 from the <br /> Annual Town Meeting warrant at this time. <br /> Article 25: To see if the Town will hire and equip additional <br /> i full-time Police Officers, and appropriate the sura of$43,554 from <br /> available funds. <br /> `F <br /> Chief Przybylek indicated that Federal grant funds will provide 75% of the <br /> three officers salaries over a three year period. The Town would contribute <br /> the remaining 25% during the three year period, and assume full <br /> responsibility of employment and benefits thereafter. It was noted that all <br /> benefits would be paid for by the Town, 100 during the three year period. <br /> Grant funding will also employ an additional three Police Officers <br /> in the sauce c annex ire fiscal year 1999,although the Town not committed <br /> to employ the additional officers to obtain funding for FY . <br />
