Page 5 l Board of Selectmen Y = Minutes June 9, 1997 OLD BUSINESS: Recommendations for Shellfish Grant Approval:. Richard York, Shellfish Constable was present to recommend the Board renew the Tribal Council's existing shellfish grant,and approve the proposed shellfish grant in Popponesset Bay with the conditions imposed by the Shellfish Commission on June 4, 1997. (enclosed) Mr. York recommended that the existing grant be renewed for the maximum period of fifteen years. Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to renew the shellfish grant of the Tribal Council for the maximum period of fifteen years as recommended. Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters, TE: Unanimous. 5-0. Discussion followed with regards to the proposed eight acre shellfish grant located in Popponesset Bay. Mr. York indicated that the Shellfish Commission will be reviewing the performance standards for shellfish grants as it pertains to shellfish and s ac uaculture regulations, and will q g come before the Board of Selectmen with a recommendation. In addition, a public hearing will be held to obtain public input. Jim Hanks, a member of the waterways Commission recommended that the Board defer approval until the new regulations have been documented. It was noted that the performance standards, as they exist-or may be amended will be applied across the board to all shellfish grants. Motion made by Selectman Dinizio to approve the new eight acre shellfish grant as proposed for the Tribal Council subject to the conditions imposed by the Shellfish Commission. Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. TE: Unanimous. 5-0. COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Advertisement Process: Fire Station Buildina Committee.- The ommittee:The Board authorized Mr. whritenour to advertise to seek public interest to service the building committee for the renovation of the Mashpee Fire and Rescue Station. PUBLIC DISCUSSION: None at this time.
