Page 5 <br /> l Board of Selectmen <br /> Y <br /> = Minutes <br /> June 9, 1997 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Recommendations for Shellfish Grant Approval:. <br /> Richard York, Shellfish Constable was present to recommend the <br /> Board renew the Tribal Council's existing shellfish grant,and <br /> approve the proposed shellfish grant in Popponesset Bay with the <br /> conditions imposed by the Shellfish Commission on June 4, 1997. <br /> (enclosed) <br /> Mr. York recommended that the existing grant be renewed for the <br /> maximum period of fifteen years. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to renew the shellfish <br /> grant of the Tribal Council for the maximum period of <br /> fifteen years as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters, <br /> TE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the proposed eight acre shellfish <br /> grant located in Popponesset Bay. Mr. York indicated that the Shellfish <br /> Commission will be reviewing the performance standards for shellfish <br /> grants as it pertains to shellfish and s <br /> ac uaculture regulations, and will <br /> q g <br /> come before the Board of Selectmen with a recommendation. In addition, <br /> a public hearing will be held to obtain public input. <br /> Jim Hanks, a member of the waterways Commission recommended that <br /> the Board defer approval until the new regulations have been documented. <br /> It was noted that the performance standards, as they exist-or may be <br /> amended will be applied across the board to all shellfish grants. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Dinizio to approve the new <br /> eight acre shellfish grant as proposed for the Tribal Council <br /> subject to the conditions imposed by the Shellfish <br /> Commission. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> TE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Advertisement Process: Fire Station Buildina Committee.- <br /> The <br /> ommittee:The Board authorized Mr. whritenour to advertise to seek public interest <br /> to service the building committee for the renovation of the Mashpee <br /> Fire and Rescue Station. <br /> PUBLIC DISCUSSION: None at this time. <br />
