Page 5 Board of Selectmen Minutes e� June 23, 1997 COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Letter from Dr. DeMoura Meeting,Advisgrv: The Mashpee School Committee has requested the Board of Selectmen attend a joint meeting with the Finance Committee, and Board of Assessors to review and brainstorm possible avenues for additional educational funding. The meeting will be held on Wednesday,July 9, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. in the Quashnet School cafetorium. It is the consensus of the Board to attend the above meeting. Mr. Whritenour was requested to provide an agenda for the meeting advisory, and request review of the proposed FY99 School budget at this time. APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Richard S hau hhnnesa� Mashpee resident, Richard Shaughnessy was present to discuss the Santuit Pond water quality and herring ladder replacement with members of the Board of Selectmen. A water analysis of Santuit Pond as collected by Mr. Shaughnessy, and analyzed by the Barnstable County Health and Environmental Department was presented. (enclosed) Based on the analysis performed, the water as sampled meets the recommended limits for drinking water of all the tested parameters. Discussion followed with regards to the study of cranberry bogs as it relates to the impact of pesticides on the quality of water. Mr. Shaughnessy recommended the Board allocate the sum of$5,000 to repair the herring ladder located in Santuit Pond. It is the consensus of the Board to place this matter on the October Town Meeting Warrant. In other business, Mr. Shaughnessy indicated that Hemlock Drive is in disrepair. It was noted that the Board of Selectmen approved repairs to this area at the last scheduled meeting. Economic Develo ment office: Selectman Caffyn suggested the Board review the summer hours of the Economic Development Coordinator.
