Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 21, 1997 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Fire Station Building,Committee: <br /> The Board received seven letters of interest to service the Mashpee <br /> Fire Station Building Committee for the purpose of renovating the <br /> existing central station, and to provide for the design of a future <br /> sub-station in South Mashpee as approved in May at the Annual Town <br /> Meeting. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to appoint; <br /> George Baker Joyce Mason <br /> Jim Vaccaro Dr. Elizabeth Petti <br /> Peter Thomas Benjamin Perry, Jr. <br /> George Wezniak <br /> to the Fire Station Building Committee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye, <br /> V TE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> It was noted that inspectional regulatory agencies will serve as <br /> ex-officio members of the committee. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Fire Dement Radio Project: <br /> Mashpee Fire Chief, George Baker indicated that the town has <br /> received the first phase of the 800 MHz radio project for the purchase <br /> of user radio's. <br /> Representative Tom Cahir assisted in the endeavor to obtain grant funding <br /> through a recent transportation bond bill. The new system is state of the art, <br /> and will allow for better coverage and reliability. The Mashpee Police <br /> Department has also received portable radio's informed Mr. Baker. <br /> It is the consensus of the Board to send a letter of appreciation to <br /> Representative Cahir, and acknowledge the Police Department on the <br /> radio equipment implementation. <br /> Notification of Cops and Fids Grant Award: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Executive Office of Public <br /> Safety dated July 2, 1997 announcing that the Mashpee Police Department <br /> has been selected to received a Federal Fiscal Year 1997 Cops and Kids <br /> Grant in the amount of$50,000. <br /> A letter of appreciation will be forwarded to the Police Department. <br /> Mashpee was one of twenty award communities. <br />
