A. <br /> F' <br /> Page 5 <br /> Minutes <br /> August 11, 1997 <br /> y MMR ISS <br /> Selectman Marsters indicated that the twenty-two member <br /> citizens panel met for the first time to assist with the comprehensive <br /> environmental review of the Massachusetts Military Reservation. <br /> The Citizens WorkingGroup will advise on a stud of groundwater <br /> y <br /> beneath the Base's artillery impact area and on a master plan for the Base <br /> informed Selectman Marsters. <br /> The citizens panel consists of representatives from the Towns of Mashpee, <br /> Falmouth, Bourne and Sandwich. The Cape Cod Commission, Cape <br /> Cod Economic Development Council, Chamber, League of Women Voters, <br /> the Coalition for Buzzards Bay and Association for the Preservation of <br /> Cape Cod also have representatives participating on the panel in addition to <br /> Trudy Coxe, the Secretary of Environmental Affairs. <br /> Selectman Marsters indicated that the Army National Guard is testing for <br /> possible contamination from decades of firing ammunition. At this time, <br /> plastic bullets will only be fired while the soil study is being conducted. <br /> In addition, monitoring wells will be placed around the impact area to <br /> map the aquifer. Several ponds and swamps in the area are also being <br /> tested throughout the 2200 acre impact area informed Selectman Marsters. <br /> The citizens panel intends to meet on a bimonthly basis. Selectman <br /> Marsters <br /> indicated that he will apprise the Board on what is expected to be a twelve <br /> month project. <br /> JR <br /> SR HIGH SCHOOL: <br /> Selectman Dinizio indicated that the high school project is near completion. <br /> The outdoor lighting for the football field is the outstanding issue for <br /> project completion. <br /> :S. <br /> 1 <br />
