Identification of Private wells in the area has been initiated. Several private wells have been identified in the area and will be tested within the next two days. Test results are expected late Friday or Saturday. The issue of irrigation ation water is being evaluated. These monitoring wells were installed as part of the Fuel Spill One groundwater Program. Fuel Spill one is the Installation Restoration Pro investigation associated with 9 released from aircraft as art of maintenance activities during the area where fuel wasp the 1960s. ongoing The on oin investigation is the result of a request by the regulatory shales and the Joint Process Action Team (citizen a9 volunteer team). The goal was to determine if there were any fuel related groundwater impacts associated with the Fuel u Spill one site on the reservation. Well locations were based upon computer uter modeling. The modeling showed that groundwater in that area flows directly to the Quashnet River. Thus wells were placed in the area where it might coma into the river system. Prior to this discovery, there was no evidence of EDB groundwater contamination associated with Fuel Spill one.
