Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 4 <br /> November 17, 1997 <br /> AUQRMSIUaS--AND IM&E&US <br /> C=LiizhtQam=t2=enjajjQn; <br /> Robert O'Leary,Chairman of the Barnstable County Commissioners, <br /> Matthew Patrick, and Joseph Dellagala,Mashpee's representative to the <br /> Cape Light Compact were present to discuss the Intermunicipal agreement <br /> with members of the Board of Selectmen and interested public. <br /> The Cape Light Compact is an aggregate of Cape town's working together <br /> to provide and option for consumers indicated Mr. O'Leary. At this time, <br /> twelve of the fifteen Cape towns have voted to support utility restructuring <br /> to acquire the best market rate for electricity. <br /> The Cape Light Compact is a nonprofit entity noted Mr. O'Leary. Cape <br /> Cod is presently paying the sixth highest rate in the United States for electricity. <br /> The Cape also pays 20%more than the rest of the State of Massachusetts. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the Cape Light Compact. It was noted <br /> that a vote of the Board of Selectmen is required to approve the Intermunicipal <br /> Agreement. Town Meeting vote is necessary to approve legistlation issues. <br /> � g <br /> It is the consensus <br /> of the Board to consult Town Counsel with respect to this <br /> atter will be laced on a future agenda for additional review and <br /> regard. Costs associated with <br /> interest were included in the estimated sum <br /> engineering, legal and temporary <br /> of$299,000. <br />
