Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 9 <br /> December 15, 1997 <br /> P-ULjC-CDMIMIENT: <br /> George Green, a member of the wampanoag Indian Tribal Council <br /> and Conservation Commission expressed support for the petition, <br /> and recommended the Selectmen seek alternatives to the expansion <br /> proposal to protect the Mashpee River. <br /> On behalf of the Board, Selectman Costa accepted the petition signed <br /> by approximately 300 residents. The matter will be further reviewed by <br /> the Board, and placed on the agenda of the Mashpee Commons Advisory <br /> Committee's meeting on Tuesday,December 1 6, 1997 at 4:30 p.m. <br /> Dr. Brian Howes updated the Board and interested public on the progress <br /> of the Mashpee River study. The final report is due next week. The Cape <br /> Cod Commission has committed as a regional regulatory authority,and for <br /> funding to conduct nutrient loading assessments. <br /> The application for funding as authorized by the Selectmen for the water <br /> pollution abatement program has been submitted. The application appears <br /> to be favorable, and may develop into a"case" study for the region informed <br /> Dr. Howes. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the benefit of a wastewater facility <br /> study. Dr. Howes indicated that it is necessary to have a plan to protect <br /> Mashpee's resources. Data is needed for land use planning and environmental <br /> protection. It is the consensus of the Board to place this matter as a future <br /> agenda topic of discussion. <br /> APPQZME-NIS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public -Flume Re r t e u t to s : <br /> Selectman Costa opened the Public Hearing on the request of <br /> The Flume, Inc., d/b/a The Flume,Earle H. Mills, Sr.,Manager, to <br /> close from.December 1, 1997 until March 31, 19951, for annual <br /> renovations and repairs. <br /> Earle Mills was present to request the Board's approval. Selectman Costa <br /> opened the hearing to obtain comment. Being none, Selectman Costa <br /> requested a vote from the Board to close the Public Hearing. <br />
