(enclosed) <br /> r Paul Griffin Chairman of the High School Building� g Committee indicated <br /> that the Comtmittee voted unanimously to request the Board of Selectmen to <br /> l <br /> declare the Stone Building Company in default of their contract. <br /> .MrGriffin indicated that the lE h School building project g g Ject is in serious P <br /> risk of not being completed on time under the resent method of operation. <br />' P p <br /> y i. The project is currently two months behind schedule. <br />=f7 Selectman Caff n resent 6 <br /> i.110i' <br /> Edward Frenette,principal architect for <br /> p Symmes,Maine and McKee <br /> indicated that his firm has never caused a contractor to go to default. <br /> Under the present schedule,the contractor is technically in default due to <br /> the pattern of performance. <br /> Four major areas of non-compliance have been found in the roof, steel <br /> studs, structural steel and masonry explained Mr.Frenette. It was noted <br /> that the non-compliance work related to the roof and steel studs are typical. <br /> There is a process in place to resolve these issues indicated Mr.Frenette, <br /> In terms of fabrication,Mr.Frenette indicated that the structural steel is the <br /> worst that he has experienced. The masonry appears to be as bad as <br /> the worst he has experienced in his twenty-six years of business. It was <br /> noted that the extent of the masonry problem will not be known until tests <br /> have been completed. <br /> .t <br />
