Page 2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 4, 1936 <br /> QOMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Snow Storm Update <br /> Mr. Whritenour updated the Board with regards to the snow storm that <br /> began on Saturday morning. The wet snow and ice downed wires that <br /> caused power outages in Mashpee. <br /> The Middle School was used as an emergency shelter for Civil Defense <br /> informed Mr.Whritenour. It was noted that the heavy, wet snow that was <br /> predicted for no more than three inches actually measured nine inches <br /> in depth. <br /> MMR Update: <br /> Selectman Caffyn indicated that John DeVillars,EPA regional administrator <br /> is keeping abreast of Mashpee's response to the plume containment plan. <br /> In other issues,the MMR would like to form a steering panel appointing <br /> one member from each Board of Selectmen from the surrounding base <br /> communities to review positive issues other than plume containment issues. <br /> Selectman Caffyn suggested the Board consider appointing an alternate <br /> member to service the MMR-2000 Committee. Issues to be discussed <br /> include; waste water treatment,fire departmental matters,roads, and <br /> grounds and maintenance. <br /> Water Levels of MashueelWakeby.Pond: <br /> Correspondence was received from James McGonagle relative to the <br /> critical height of Mashpee/Wakeby Pond. It was noted that 2000 gallons <br /> per day is the maximum amount of water allowed to be released. <br /> Mr.Whritenour indicated that he has discussed this concern with the <br /> Conservation Commission. He will continue to update the Board with <br /> respect to water elevations. <br /> Gertrude Aiken s: <br /> It was noted that Gertrude Aikens, a Mashpee Wampanoag elder known <br /> b her traditional name as "Princess Evening Star"died Saturday at the <br /> y h Public Library as <br /> age of 3$. Last year, she was honored at the Mashpee ary <br /> an important woman in the town's history. <br />
