z. <br /> Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes-revised <br /> March 4, 1996 <br /> PUBLIC DISCUSSION: <br /> Deirdre Greelish indicated that the capital improvement items are not <br /> listed in the FY97 budget. Mr.whritenour indicated that the capital <br /> improvement items appear in a separate capital omnibus budget. The <br /> amount of$590,000 is listed for specific capital improvement projects. <br /> All projects fall within the guidelines as set forth by the Finance Committee. <br /> Kimberly Costello indicated that she attended the Barnstable County <br /> Selectmen's and Councilors' Association RAGE meeting relative to <br /> the Cape's share of state educational aid. <br /> Mashpee receives 13-15% of total school budget aid informed Ms. Costello. <br /> She encouraged all to support the efforts of the sub-committee planned to <br /> study this issue. <br /> It was noted that Cape schools will receive less than 1.1% of the$1.8 <br /> billion the state is anticipated to spend this fiscal year supporting public <br /> education. <br /> LD BUSINESS: <br /> Eollow-up Discussion -warrant3udget: <br /> Police Chief- Articles 13 - 15: <br /> Article#13: To create the position of Temporary Police officer within the <br /> Mashpee Police Department and appoint(2)Temporary Police officers <br /> to create a Domestic Violence Investigation Unit through grant funding. <br /> The grant if attained, will provide 100% funding of salary and fringe <br /> benefits for(2) temporary police officers and(1) temporary clerk for a <br /> one year period. <br /> We will attempt to track,identify and neutralize batterers to reduce.total <br /> incidence of domestic violence in Mashpee indicated Chief Przybylek. <br /> It was noted that the positions are contingent upon receipt of grant funding. <br /> Chief Przybylek recommended to delay the position implementation <br /> until January 1, 1997. He recommended to further review and analyze <br /> the positions after a six month period. <br />
