ii t Page 4 Board of Selectmen Minutes March 4, 1996 QLD B SINESS Request to QgLdit Officer for Previous Experience, With regards to the request for credit,Mr.Whritenour indicated that he discussed this matter with Town Counsel. It is has been deemed permissible under the discretion of the Board of Selectmen informed Mr.Whritenour. It was noted that officer Todino has six years,and six months prior police experience with his most recent employer, Babson College Department of Public Safety as a Campus Police officer. Article XXH- Credit for Service on other Police Department states: In order than an officer might quality for such a credit, he must have served in good standing continuously for a period of at least five (5)years as a full-time regular police officer with any police department in any other municipality,county or state. Motion made by Selectman Dinizio to approve the request to credit Police officer Albert Todino for previous experience. Motion seconded by Selectman Vaccaro. T E: 2-2. Motion fails. Selectman Costa, Selectman Caffyn in opposition. Follow-up Discussion -Warrant ud et: Police Chief- Articles 12- 15: Article#12: To see if the Town will hire and equip (3) additional full-time police officers. Grant funding will provide 75% of the (3) officers salaries over a three year period. Chief Przybylek recommended the Board place Article#12 on the Annual Town Meetin cr Warrant, and delay implementation until January 1, 1997. The town will save approximately$24,800 if implementation is delayed. It was noted that the town is not obligated to maintain the above positions after the three year period. All positions are contingent upon receipt of the federal grant. Selectman Caffyn suggested to schedule as a future agenda item, the discussion of crime prevention.
