Page 4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 17, 1996 <br /> EM LLQUS 5IQN: <br /> Selectman Dinizio announced the following procedure for <br /> Public Discussion: All members of the public wishing to speak during <br /> public comment will be requested to sign the sheet located in the center <br /> table prior to 7:00 p.m. <br /> Paul Lumsden, Captain's Row requested the Board reconsider <br /> past action to obtain an RFP for consulting services to review the <br /> f <br /> Mashpee Commons project, E <br /> Mr.Lumsden indicated that the taxpayers should not pay for the <br /> development proposal,but react more appropriately to correct the <br /> critical condition of the Mashpee River. ! <br /> In other business, Sidney Golub,Finance Committee Chairman requested <br /> the Board submit response to his previous request to allow the Finance <br /> Committee to submit input into the contract negotiation process in an effort <br /> to reach a consensus between the two boards. <br /> In response to the above, Selectman Dinizio noted that the Finance <br /> Committee was involved in the process with the Board of Selectmen <br /> in January and February. We are working diligently to ensure the process <br /> is adhered to stated Selectman Dinizio. <br /> With regards to the proposed communications tower,Evelyn Webb <br /> of S amp son's Mill Road indicated that the tower located on B owdoin Road <br /> interferes with her television reception. <br /> f <br /> F; <br /> Agreeing with Mr.Lumsden's comments,Edward Baker suggested the <br /> Board seek funding to authorize the study for a license to allow the <br /> dredging of the Mashpee River. <br /> Several residents of the Sampson's Mill Road area requested the Board <br /> support their petition and aid in the process to supply Town water to I <br /> their homes located in the contaminated area near the Augat facility. <br /> It was noted that a petition,dated May 10, 1996 was presented to the , <br /> Mashpee Board of Health requesting assistance. The Mashpee Water <br /> District has indicated that they will assess each household with a$6,000 <br /> betterment fee for the Town water hook up. <br /> It is the consensus of the Board to work with the residents to address <br /> their concerns, and gather the necessary factual data. It was noted that <br /> the responsible party that has caused the contamination has not yet <br /> been determined. Selectman Caffyn noted that there is a time limit of <br /> liability. <br />
