It was noted that an illegal dredging statement was <br /> g � g <br /> issued In 1964 <br /> With respect to the above,the Department of Environmental Protection <br /> (E)EP)and court records will be reviewed as requested. It was noted that <br /> it is a lengthy process to obtain new dredging permits. <br /> The r+ecom aendation was made by Bill Taylor to place channel markers <br /> across the mud flat of the river to allow boats to make a path to create <br /> a channel. <br /> Mr.Ellis indicated that the Town would be liable,but the channel could <br /> be marked after dredging. Discussion followed with regards to slow no <br /> wake markers, and possibly using shoal markers as a warning to boaters <br /> to stay in the same path. The estimated cost for shoal markers are$75.00 <br /> each. The Board supports using shoal markers as recommended. <br /> Anthony Firoientini indicated that excess nutrients and bacteria are <br /> detrimental to water purity and shellfishro a ation. <br /> P P g : . <br /> It is the ee <br /> consensus of the Board to move forward to save the Mashpee <br /> River as outlined. <br /> 3; <br /> f <br /> Paul Lumsden thanked the Board for their interest and efforts to <br /> save the Mashpee River. <br /> CoaaW Resources Management Committee Status Report: <br /> Mr.Hanks discussed the make-up of the Coastal Resources Management <br /> Committee with the Board. It was noted that the committee is too large <br /> g <br /> and often has quorum problems. For twenty members, a quorum of <br /> eleven is necessary to conduct a regular meeting. <br /> Mr.Hanks recommended to change the Town Bylaw to reduce the <br /> size of the committee. It was noted that Town Meeting approval is <br /> necessary to change the make-up of the committee. <br /> Selectman Dinizio directed Mr.Hanks to meet with interested citizens <br /> to discuss the structure of the Coastal Resources Management Committee <br /> and return to the Board. <br /> It was noted that a Special Mashpee River Committee will be formed <br /> as a sub-committee of the Coastal Resources Management Committee. <br />
