k w <br /> Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 15, 1996 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND BEARINGS: <br /> Bablic-Hearing--R newal Shellfish Grant#006 <br /> Rich k• <br /> Selectman Dinizio opened the Public Hearing on the request of <br /> Richard Cook for renewal of Shellfish Grant#006 which consists <br /> Of four(4) acres located on the north side of ockway Bay. <br /> Richard Cook and Richard York, S hellfi sh Constable were present <br /> to discuss the license renewal with the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Mr. York indicated that the Shellfish Commission voted unanimously <br /> to recommend the Board renew the grant application for fifteen years <br /> as requested, and allowed under state law. <br /> Shellfish spawning on the grant each year undoubtedly contribute large <br /> . . g <br /> numbers of larvae that are tamed by the tides to seed In Gckway Bay and <br /> elsewhere informed Mr. York who noted that Mr. Cook has also been <br /> successful in growing oysters. <br /> The area is unobtrusive with all gear submerged, and only the corner <br /> . y <br /> markers visible stated Mr. York who related that the development of <br /> shellfish farming creates economic development potential. <br /> Selectman Dinizio opened the Public Hearing to obtain comment. <br /> Mr. Baker asked if the area proposed for the shellfish grant is in the <br /> same area as the existing grant. Mr. Cook replied that it is the same <br /> location. <br /> Being no further comment, Selectman D inizio requested a vote from the <br /> Board to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to close the Public Hearing, <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Costa. <br /> MTE* Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Mr.York indicated that he has not received any complaints regarding the <br /> shellfish grant. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to approve the request of <br /> t Richard Cook to renew n Shellfish r <br /> s Grant t #006 for fifteen years. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Costa. <br /> .YQTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> s <br />
