Page 4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 29, 1996 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> ADDointment of Assistant Building Ins ect r• <br /> Communication was received from the Personnel Board dated July 25, <br /> 1996 recommending the Board appoint Russell Wheeler to the position <br /> of full-time Assistant Building Inspector. <br /> It <br /> was noted that nineteen candidates applied for the position. Eightht <br /> candidates <br /> were interviewed. Three candidates were considered for <br /> appointment. <br /> The Personnel Board submitted one recommendation to the Board of <br /> Selectman for consideration. It was noted that in the past, the Personnel <br /> Board submitted and ranked three candidates to the Board for review. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the interviewP rocess. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Costa to defer appointment until <br /> further information is provided to the Board from Personnel. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn, <br /> VOTE. Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> APPOINTN1ENTS AND BEARINGS.. <br /> Loint ADDointment-Finance Committee Member: <br /> Finance Committee members, Sidney Golub,Juan Bacigalupi, and <br /> Myron Kumin were present for joint appointment to fill the vacant seat <br /> on the Finance Committee. <br /> The Finance Committee submitted one recommendation to the Board <br /> for appointment. <br /> *It is the consensus of the Board to defer appointment until three resumes <br /> have been submitted for additional consideration. <br /> *Agenda topic; August 12, 1996. <br /> Finance Committee Various Issues,,- <br /> Sidney <br /> ssues:Sidney Golub, Chairman of the Finance Committee discussed several <br /> issues of consideration with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Tax belief: Mr. Golub recommended to continue the dialogue with the <br /> Executive Secretary with regards to offsetting the tax rate, and obtain <br /> recommendations for stabilization before the Town Meeting warrant <br /> closes in September. <br />
