Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 29, 1996 <br /> Finance Committee Various Issues: <br /> Purchase of Fuel: Mr. Golub recommended the Board investigate <br /> methods to conserve fuel costs, and streamline the bid process. He <br /> suggested the use of a Town owned pumping station to offset fuel costs. <br /> Tax Exempt Fuel Tax: It was noted that the Town is exempt as a <br /> municipality to pay State fuel tax. Mr. Golub suggested to seek <br /> reimbursement from the State with respect to previousym a ents. <br /> p <br /> Town Land: Mr. Golub recommended the Board review property <br /> foreclosures for non-payment of taxes, and consider the sale or auction <br /> of properties in an effort to reduce the current tax rate. <br /> *It is the consensus of the Board to compile a current list of excess <br /> further consideration. <br /> property for <br /> Community Use School Building: Mr. Golub suggested the Board <br /> . gg. <br /> consider charging user fees for use of the school building. <br /> October Town Meeting Warrant: Legal/Engineering Fees for MMR <br /> Clean-up Process: Selectman Dinizio suggested the Board conduct a <br /> workshop session with the Finance Committee for the purpose of <br /> allocating funds for the MMR clean-up process. <br /> A maintenance fund,dedicated for environmental clean-up to protect <br /> the Town's natural resources was suggested by the Board for further <br /> review and consideration. <br /> Mr. Bacigalupi suggested the Board consider creating the position of <br /> environmental scientist on a full-time basis to review specific environmental <br /> issues in Mashpee. <br /> With respect to the above, Mr. Golub indicated that the Finance Committee <br /> is receptive to the Selectmen's recommendation with due diligence. <br /> APPOINTMEENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> School Committee&Leisure Services Advisory Committee School Use <br /> Agreement: <br /> The Board met with the School Committee and Leisure Services Advisory <br /> Committee for the purpose of discussing the joint School Use Agreement. <br /> Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Superintendent of Schools, School Counsel Attorney <br /> Butler, and Gus Frederick,Director of Leisure Services were also present. <br /> The Board reviewed the proposed Joint Use Agreement between the <br /> Mashpee School Committee and Mashpee Board of Selectmen on behalf <br /> of the Mashpee Leisure Services Department. <br />
