5 <br /> Fi-nance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 19, 2017 <br /> NEWBUSMESS <br /> FYI Budget Review in re aration for..May 2017 Town Meetin (continued) <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the obligations of the town required to support new <br /> construction that is under consideration for the Cape Cod Technical School. The Town of <br /> Mashpee's share is currently projected to cost up to $10 million. A cost of this magnitude would <br /> severely impact municipal operations to what's described as fission critical. <br /> Town Manager Rodney C. Collins requested support from the Finance Committee with respect <br /> to t-hls regard, The Town of Mashpee is one of the twelve member towns participating in the <br /> Cape Cod Tech program. By a majority vote of the school building committee,a new school <br /> with a design enrollment of 650 students was the selected option over renovation/additions, <br /> In October of 2017, a district-wide election is required to be held to determine the outcome of <br /> this project. Town Manager Rodney C. Collins urged the Finance Committee to communicate <br /> with appropriate town committees and citizens explaining the financialspecifies of this proposal, <br /> If the Town of Mashpee voted to defeat this proposal, and the otherartici atin towns by <br /> p p <br /> majority vote approved the funding, the Town of Mashpee is obligated to contribute to this <br /> p � <br /> project. As of last year, 59 students from Mashpee attended the Cape Cod Technical School. <br /> Members of the Finance Committee agreed to invite Robert Sanborn of theap e Cod Technical <br /> School to a meeting to discuss the proposal and to further review the potential impacts to the <br /> Town of Mashpee. A meetm' g is also scheduled on February 6, 2017 at theap e Cod Tech <br /> School in Harwich at 3*-oo p.m. to further review this natter.
