The results
of the Committee were very positive, however several issues relative to
environmental considerations, water quality, fiscal impacts, traffic, and
business were recommended for further review and consideration,
Douglas Storrs, Vice-Presidents of Mashpee Commons,Ltd. discussed
the plan he has envisioned for the past ten years to encompass the central
business district of Mashpee presently owned by his firm.
It was noted that the traditional New England neighborhood approach is the
favored development vs. commercial sub-division as the area is presently
zoned.
When talking of a twenty year master plan for Mashpee, a high degree of
flexibility is important stated Mr. Storrs who noted that he is confident
that when square footage requirements, appropriate mitigation, and site
F: plans have been approved, the Town will be able to further develop without
the Mashpee Commons,Ltd. dictating or requiring what is to be built.
The zoning changes as proposed include; minimum lot sizes, set backs,
and mixed use zoning. Mr. Storrs indicated that multiple ownership is
important. It is not necessarily positive for Mashpee Commons to be the
``tier project The.er
sole developer. p 'ect should be diversified to allow others to develop
;r..
yC
in a manner that is beneficial to the community.
t
