Should the Board of Selectmen wish <br /> to examine the need to fill a position,the Executive Secretary <br /> would notify the Personnel Department immediately, <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the aboveRequisition Change as recommended; <br /> effective immediately. <br /> Motion seconded b Selectman y <br /> y Marsters. <br /> VOTE0 Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Mrs.Farren reviewed the proposal for updating the Town of Mashpee' <br /> sHiring Process. (enclosed) Discussion followed with <br /> regards to in-housevstin g <br /> posting as it relates to non-standard part-time Board Secretaries. <br /> Selectman Caffyn related concern to in-houseostia procedures,and <br /> the1 p g p ' <br /> lack of public knowledge to apply for full-time job opportunities. <br /> It was noted that non-standard part-time employee's are notart of an <br /> Town Union. p y <br /> Mrs.Farren suggested the Board be fair and consistent stent to all employee's <br /> across the board. She _ . <br /> stated that in-house posting is a practice for all <br /> Town employees. It was noted that Board Secretaries go through the same <br /> vigorous process as other Town employees, and are wellualified for the <br /> positions q <br /> p ons they hold,and qualified to bid on positions as they open. <br /> Our employee's are encouraged to develop a career path and seekJ'ob <br /> promotional opportunities indicated Mrs.Farren who noted that moving <br /> up a career path is considered a promotion. <br /> Mrs.Kumin agreed, and stated that the process is open for the hiring <br /> of all Board Secretaries. It is a rigid qualification process. Mrs. Farren <br /> added that it is a similar process to the hiring an Administrative Secretary <br /> or an Administrative Assistant. <br />
