Page 2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 18, 1996 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS <br /> Tadhg S we ne -Fir Rescue Station R novation S d Re rt• <br /> Computer modeling of response times to various locations in Mashpee <br /> concluded the following; <br /> 52% of possible calls were within 4 minutes of the <br /> existing station. <br /> 22% were between 4-6 minutes standard for advanced <br /> life support. <br /> 41% of the property risk was located in Mashpee center. <br /> 36% of the property risk was located in South Mashpee. <br /> Mr. Sweeney indicated that conclusive evidence states that the location <br /> of the present station is optimal for the Town, and that a sub-station <br /> will be required in South Mashpee in the next five years. <br /> The existing central building has existing building and health code <br /> violations in addition to termite infestation informed Mr. Sweeney. <br /> Chief Baker recommended the Board move forward with the proposal <br /> to immediately renovate the main building, and construct the sub-station <br /> within a three to five year period. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to departmental staffing needs and related <br /> projections. Selectman Caffyn suggested to consider the project funding <br /> in relation to the Town's long range financial plan. <br /> In addition, Selectman Caffyn recommended to develop a two phased <br /> scenario proposal, and further review the potential tax impact. To develop <br /> a clear understanding,we should review the renovation of the central <br /> station, and all associated costs, and the option of constructing and <br /> renovating both facilities suggested Selectman Caffyn. <br /> Mr. whritenour suggested the Board forward the proposal to the Capital <br /> Improvement Committee, and conduct the two phased scenario proposal <br /> as recommended. *Approved. <br /> Selectman Dinizio recommended the Board consider placing an article <br /> on the May Town Meeting warrant to appropriate fees for the design of <br /> both facilities in an effort to save tax dollars. It was noted that an <br /> architectural schematic design for both facilities is estimated to cost <br /> $25,000 - $30,000. <br />
