Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee
Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday,January 17, 2019
Mashpee Town Hall—Ockway Meeting Room
Committee Members Present: Steve Cook, Joe Brait, and Geoff Gorman
Absent: Tom O'Neill
Also Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW
Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
Joe Brait motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of December 18, 2018 as written; and
Geoff Gorman seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes; Unanimous
Steve Cook,yes. Joe Brait,yes. Geoff Gorman,yes
Old Business
Update on Quashnet School Window/Roof Project
The GC has addressed all punch list items. The architect (RDA) now is reviewing and generating
a back punch list. Once complete, the GC will respond, identifying what items they will re-
address, what items they are unable to address, and what items they believe are complete per
their scope. RDA will review and assign a value to the latter two categories for discussion with
the Town.
Over the last week, there has been a strong septic odor in the kitchen/cafeteria area. The odor
does not appear to be related to the project; the timing is just coincidental though some
construction debris as well as tennis balls were found in the roof vents. All roof vents will be
checked and cleared. After some investigation, DPW found a cast iron vent pipe in the ceiling
for the dishwasher that was severely corroded, cracked, and blocked. The pipe is being
replaced. Other drain and vent pipes in the area will be checked.
New Business
Approval of Invoices
Joe Brait motioned to approve payment of 2 invoices totaling$216,583.72 and Geoff Gorman
seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes; Unanimous.
Steve Cook, yes. Joe Brait, yes. Geoff Gorman, yes.
