Minutes of Meeting of <br /> Design Review Committee <br /> Held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 <br /> Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> Mike wants the committee to recognize the design idea of what would look <br /> more appeasing in a neighborhood. <br /> Miles suggested that talking with people in the community and getting an <br /> understanding of what they like, and what people want to see on Cape Cod <br /> would be helpful to setting the design criteria for the Town. He believes that <br /> identifying the culture is beneficial for Mashpee. He said that Nantucket has <br /> a very strict design criteria. <br /> Evan suggested and recommended a book called the "Geography of No <br /> Where". He also mentioned that Cape Cod Commission's design guidelines <br /> are called designing the future while honoring the past. <br /> Jonathan mentioned that there are several historical books on Wilson's <br /> Grove, including military history. <br /> Joe mentioned that the welcome signs coming into Mashpee are in need of <br /> repair. <br /> Evan mentioned the Historic District. Signs need to go before the Historic <br /> Committee for approval. <br /> Mike mentioned the design elements specific to each Zoning District. For <br /> example; Rte. 130, Rte. 151 and Rte. 28 signage should be wooden and <br /> earth tones. He said that there should be different ideas for each section of <br /> Town for lighting, color tones, etc. Landscaping, types of trees, and similar <br /> types of greenery, building styles. <br /> Miles submitted guidelines from Dark Sky Association that mentions <br /> protecting the evening sky, and provide a users guide to amend bylaws.. <br /> Evan thought that Miles could attend a Planning Board meeting to discuss <br /> these guidelines. <br /> Jonathan thought that the installers of illuminated signs would know how to <br /> measure the lumens, and if they are adjustable. <br /> Mike passed out information from the Town of Yarmouth. He also wanted <br /> to point out that Yarmouth has an architectural site design standards. He <br /> also has their application form. <br /> 4 <br />
