The project, as identified, would reduce the algae growth in Santuit Pond, <br /> and replenish the oxygen throughout the pond using remedial technology. <br /> The goal of the project is to improve water quality and minimize algae bloom in Santuit Pond, a <br /> 170-acre great pond listed in the Massachusetts List of Impaired Waters, due to high nutrient <br /> levels and the abundance of noxious aquatic plants. <br /> *The vote of the Community Preservation Committee was unanimous, 7-0-1 (Mrs. Buschenfeldt <br /> abstained) to approve the application submitted by the Town of Mashpee DPW and co- <br /> applicants, the Friends of Santuit Pond and Mashpee Environmental Coalition. The Committee <br /> was also in agreement the funding would be contingent upon the Town of Mashpee providing <br /> future maintenance funding. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends approval by a vote of 5-0. <br /> The Finance Committee recommends approval by a vote of 4 yes, 1 no, 2 recused. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Wayne Taylor. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to appropriate and transfer $345,000 from the Community <br /> Preservation Open Space Reserve Fund and $12,000 from the Community Preservation Fund <br /> Budgeted Reserve, in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 44B, §5, for the <br /> purposes of funding the Santuit Pond Restoration Project by implementation of an artificial <br /> aeration and circulation system, including any necessary costs and expenses related thereto, as <br /> recommended by the Community Preservation Committee. <br /> Motion passes at 8:12 PM. <br /> Article 17 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to amend the Code of the Town of Mashpee by adding Chapter 104 <br /> —Secondhand Dealers and Secondhand Collectors. as follows: <br /> Chapter 104.
