She will be asking MEC if they are willing to pay for a portion of it.
There was a discussion to email people who may be interested in the gardens and the
members discussed soliciting local businesses to donate some materials for the fencing at
the gardens. Irene noted we need answers from the town manager before we can solicit
donations. Anthony stated he may have some electrical conduit that could be used for the
garden fencing.
There was a discussion on establishing subcommittees. Irene said once we finalize the
application process the committees could be set up. Some of the subcommittees discussed
were: New Construction Committee, Application Committee, Garden Maintenance
Committee, Garden Management Committee. It was agreed to discuss this at the next
meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Participation in new Cape Cod Community Garden Network
Irene spoke about establishing a Network for the Cape Cod Community Gardens. She met
with a woman from Sandwich and Russell Norton from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension
Service who was interested in becoming involved. Once the network is established, the
members would gather information and Mr. Norton would be interested in posting the info on
their website. Irene noted this is in the infancy stage and she will keep the members posted.
