School Committee Meeting February 6, 2018 Minutes Present were Committee Members Chris Santos, George Schmidt, Nicole Bartlett and Don Myers. Geoff Gorman, absent. Also present was Patty DeBoer, Superintendent, Hope Hanscom, Assistant Superintendent and Paul Funk, Business Manager. 1. Call Regular Meeting to Order/Pledge of Allegiance Mr. Santos called the regular meeting to order @ 5:17 pm. 2. *Executive Session 2.1 Strategy for Negotiations with Unit C Mr. Schmidt made a motion, seconded by Ms. Bartlett to enter into the Executive Session for the purpose of discussing a strategy for negotiations with Unit C and return to regular meeting at the close of Executive Session Roll Call Vote: In favor- Mr. Myers, Ms Bartlett, Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Santos; opposed - none. Chris Santos recused himself from the Executive Session. 3. Return to Regular Session Mr. Schmidt made a motion, seconded by Ms. Bartlett to move back into regular session at 5:35 pm. Roll Call Vote: In favor-Mr. Myers. Ms. Bartlett, Mr. Schmidt; opposed - none. Mr. Myers made a motion, seconded by Mr. Schmidt to call a brief recess, while guests get situated. Roll Call Vote: In favor- Mr. Myers, Ms. Bartlett, Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Santos; opposed - none. Ms. Bartlett made a motion, seconded by Mr. Myers to close the recess and move into the regular meeting at 5:40 pm. Roll Call Vote: In favor- Mr. Myers, Ms. Bartlett, Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Santos; opposed - none. 4. Recognition of Marijayne Marques Mrs. DeBoer and the Committee recognized Marijayne Marques' heroic efforts for assisting a student who was choking. Marijayne is a paraprofessional at K.C. Coombs School 5. *Approval of Minutes of 1/2/19 & 1/16/19 Mr. Schmidt made a motion, seconded by Ms. Bartlett to approve the minutes of 1/2/2019, as written. Roll Call Vote: In favor- Ms. Bartlett, Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Santos; abstained -Mr. Myers; opposed - none.
