Mr. Horner also mentioned meeting with State Representatives about the matter, but as a <br /> private citizen and not as a member of the Committee. Ms. Nadeau suggested the possibility that <br /> further conversation may be necessary to determine whether or not to separate the matter from <br /> the Committee. Ms. Waterman suggested that the Committee could serve as an incubator of <br /> ideas. <br /> Oktoberfest-Mr. Horner distributed handouts for his fundraising tshirt proposals. Mr. <br /> Horner reported that Botelho's had expressed interest in selling the tshirts and providing them to <br /> third party vendors. Mr. Horner stated that net profits could be distributed to various non-profit <br /> organizations. There was consensus for liking"We All Cast the Same Color Shadow." Mr. <br /> Horner stated that the shirts could be sold for$20, at a cost of$8. Mr. Horner shared tshirt and <br /> mug samples. Ms. Wilson noted that fundraising was a different level requiring approvals and <br /> donation accounts. Mr. Horner added that he had a Cafe Press store and there was discussion <br /> about other products such as bracelets and bumper stickers. Ms. Waterman suggested that the <br /> priority would be to clarify the Committee's role in fundraising. <br /> Community Awareness/Diversity Campaign Subcommittee-Ms. Nadeau reported that <br /> she and Ms. Wilson and Ms. DeBoer had met to further discuss an essay contest, but instead <br /> suggested a more multi-age option with the theme"Embracing Diversity in Mashpee" and an <br /> activity responding to the prompt"I can help everyone feel respected and valued in Mashpee by <br /> " The Committee's Statement of Purpose would be included as a point of reference. <br /> The prompt would be made available at different locations throughout Mashpee and the <br /> completed answers would be used to create a collage that could be hung at different locations <br /> around town. The second Sunday of June has been declared Race Amity Day in Massachusetts, <br /> which would be a good time to host a celebratory event. Ms. Landry inquired about distribution <br /> and funding of the posters. Ms. Wilson suggested that Ms. DeBoer might have ideas through the <br /> school. Mr. Horner inquired whether companies in town could donate services. Ms. DeBoer had <br /> suggested that kids could complete the prompt in school and emails could be sent home to <br /> families and guardians to allow for their participation. Ms. Wilson confirmed that they were <br /> working on a tight timeline.
